Store security at the Midland Canadian Tire retail store contacted the OPP Communications Centre at 2:50 p.m. May 25, 2023, after an individual was observed leaving the store with a crossbow which had not been paid for. Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment OPP responded recovering the crossbow and with the assistance of store security, arrested the suspect at a nearby residence.
Charged in connection with this investigation is Christopher Robin MaCleod 48 years of Midland with Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 15, 2023.
