Orillia Resident Charged With Impaired Driving And Thefts

The Orillia OPP have arrested and charged an individual from Orillia with impaired driving and theft following multiple incidents Friday evening.

On June 24, 2022, shortly after 5:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a downtown business. The individual had departed prior to police arrival.  Police were dispatched a short time later to an Atherley Road business related to the same individual who had stolen items and left in a vehicle. Police located the individual a short distance away and arrested the individual, who was subsequently transported to the Orillia Detachment for further investigation.

As a result, Steven Causton, 33 years of age, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Theft Under $5000
  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice Driver BAC – above zero, HTA s. 44.1(3)

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is set to appear on August 9, 2022, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia. Their vehicle was impounded for seven days and were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS).
