Macaulay Public School kindergarten students took part in a special tree-planting event for Arbor Day on April 26.

Coulson Bros Arboriculture returned to Macaulay PS in Bracebridge for the fifth consecutive year to celebrate Arbor Day with the kindergarten students. They planted a tree on the school grounds, continuing a cherished tradition of environmental stewardship and community engagement. Students dug the hole and mulched the sugar maple tree, which staff hope to use for their maple syrup program someday.

“It was inspiring to hear about the kindergarten students’ understanding of the importance of trees, such as providing homes for animals, offering shade for people, and making oxygen,” said Nicole Lindner, a designated early childhood educator at Macaulay PS. “Their answers truly exemplified their awareness and appreciation for nature’s gifts.”

The school community is grateful to Coulson Brothers for donating the tree. It allowed students to engage in a meaningful hands-on activity and discussion, helping to foster environmental awareness and community pride.

“Coulson Bros Arboriculture’s commitment to inspiring young minds has been evident throughout their partnership with our school,” Lindner said. “Their presence not only beautifies our playground but also fosters a sense of environmental responsibility among our students.”
