The Huntsville Sting U11 Girls hockey team has made their community proud by securing 2nd place in the nationwide Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup competition. This incredible achievement highlights the team’s dedication to making a positive impact both on and off the ice.

The Good Deeds Cup inspires young hockey players across Canada to give back to their communities through acts of kindness and generosity. The Huntsville Sting took on the challenge with passion, working hard to support the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, raising awareness and funds for local healthcare.

“We couldn’t be prouder of these young athletes for their commitment to giving back,” said Trish Kruusmagi, Development Officer Events & Community Engagement. “Their efforts have not only brought our community together but also helped shine a national spotlight on Huntsville and the importance of supporting local healthcare”

Al McCaig from Edmonds Chevrolet told the Foundation: We are incredibly proud of the Huntsville Sting Black U11 Girls for their dedication to giving back through the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. Their hard work and community spirit inspired us to donate an additional $5,000 to support the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. At Edmond’s Chevrolet, we believe in the power of teamwork—both on and off the ice—and we’re honored to support these young athletes as they make a real difference in our community.”

“I couldn’t be prouder of this incredible group of girls. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion for giving back to the community truly embody the spirit of the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. Taking 2nd place in a nationwide competition is an amazing accomplishment, but the real win is the impact they’ve made supporting Huntsville Hospital Foundation. They’ve proven that hockey is about more than just the game—it’s about heart, leadership, and making a difference.” – Coach Paul Goyda.

The team’s journey in the competition rallied incredible support from the community, local businesses, hockey fans and local service groups like the Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary, Muskoka Seniors and The Rotary Club of Huntsville. The team inspired friends and family on vacation to send in their Good Deeds Videos from as far away as England, California and Mexico.

While they may have finished 2nd in the contest, they are #1 in the hearts of Huntsville for their sportsmanship, teamwork, and dedication to making a difference.
