On Sunday May 23, 2021 at 2 a.m, Almaguin Highlands OPP investigated a suspicious vehicle parked on Eagle Lake Road.
Officers approached the driver of the vehicle and while investigating the incident, the driver drove off, nearly striking the officer with the vehicle. Police patrolled the area looking for the vehicle and driver. Police eventually located the driver, Scott Vaillancourt 34 years-of-age of Laurier Township (TWP) and arrested and charged him with the following:
- Flight from peace officer
- Assault a peace officer with a weapon
- Obstruct a peace officer
- Dangerous operation
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday July 22, 2021 in Sundridge Ontario
