A call from a Georgian Bay Township resident reporting a possible impaired driver has resulted in charges for a 29-year-old Tay Township resident. Officers attended the Kings Farm Road area at approximately 5:00 p.m. January 27, 2024, to investigate a vehicle that had reportedly gone into the ditch and received significant damage.
The suspect vehicle was located, and an impaired driving investigation was commenced and concluded with the driver, Ashley Belanger being charged criminally with the following offences.
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Operation of a motor vehicle over 80
- Dangerous Operation
- Novice driver BAC above 0 mg Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
SECOND IMPAIRED DRIVING INVESTIGATION
The OPP Communication Centre was contacted by a community member near 1:00 p.m. January 26, 2024, reporting a possible impaired driver that has struck a parked vehicle on Palmer Street, Waubaushene. The attending officer spoke with the lone driver upon arrival at the scene and entered into an impaired driving investigation. As part of the investigation, a request was made for a sample of the driver’s breath which was not provided. As a result of the following investigation, Vickie Lynn McMaster 60 years of Tay Township has been charged criminally with the following offences.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
Both accused persons were released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 8, 2024, and they also face a 90 day driver’s licence suspension along with a tow and impound invoice for seven days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines).
