Oro-Medonte Fire and Emergency Services say they received a call at 7:32 pm Wednesday for the report of a structure fire located at 135 Line 10 South near Highway 11.

The first crews arrived to a fully involved two-story abandoned farmhouse. The fire department said the house was a total loss, and there is no determination on a cause.

Crews had the fire under control around 10:30 pm.

“We left a crew overnight until heavy machinery could be brought in this morning to assist with final extinguishment. Crews cleared the scene at 10 am,” said Jamie MacNeil, Deputy Fire Chief Operations, Oro-Medonte Fire & Emergency Services.

Due to location, the fire department had five of six stations involved with a tanker and firefighters from Severn Fire assisting.

About 40 firefighters were on the scene, with 11 apparatus in total at the height of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
