  1. Our heartfelt condolences to the Cohen family. Michael was a neighbour of ours.
From our dock, we have witnessed the recklessness of both boaters and people on sea doos. Speed, weaving behind boats, excessively loud exhausts and blaring music. Our part of the lake is less wide then Mirror Lake. There is no speed limit here until you come to the mouth of the Indian River. Noise echoes between both shorelines. Traffic has increased immensely. One of many incidents witnessed this past weekend, a person sitting on the top of a Bimini cover, the boat speeding hoping to knock him off.
There used to be a flashing buoy at Hanna Point, since a new cottage was built at that point, the flashing has been disconnected.
Safety does not seem to be in mind of those who make these decisions. More patrolling is needed before the mouth of the river. There is no way all the infractions can be reported as speed leaves you unable to identify the boat registration number.
This is not the Muskoka we know from recent years.

    • We have a place on a small closed lake near MacTier.
We used to take a day trip and put in at Foots Bay and tour around, see how the other half lives.?
We haven’t done it for a while because of the crazies in the big go-fast boats.
And don’t even get me started on the “people” on jetskis.
Have a great season Linda !
      Have fun, be safe.
      ??

  2. You do realize all kayaks are bright colors for a reason, they are hard to miss on any water even in dusk conditions, I enjoy both sea dooing and kayaking along with boating, sitting on a sea doo you’d have absolutely no problems spotting a kayak, educate yourself moron.
