The first week of May (May 1 – 7) is a time for communities, families and friends to come together to mark Children’s Mental Health Week. Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) and New Path Youth and Family Services are encouraging residents in Simcoe County to take some time this week to raise awareness about the importance of child and youth mental health and to recognize that many children and their families are struggling.
“With the warmer weather approaching, we are encouraging everyone to show their support of child and youth mental health by wearing the colour green and taking part in an outdoor physical activity to support mental wellness,” says Jim Harris, New Path CEO. “We also want all children, youth and families to know that free, accessible and inclusive child and youth mental health services are available when and where you need them in your community – in-person, online and by phone.”
New Path is encouraging everyone to participate in showing their support by:
• wearing the colour green (shining green)
• taking part in an outdoor physical activity to support mental wellness
• sharing how you are shining green on social media using the hashtags #CMHW2023 #shinegreen #kidscantwait
• tagging New Path on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
The colour green is used to celebrate child and youth mental health as it represents hope, growth, and transformation. Learn more: www.newpath.ca/cmhw2023
