Traffic Stop On Hwy. 11 Near Bracebridge Leads To Several Drug Charges

The Orillia OPP have arrested two individuals following a drug trafficking investigation in Simcoe County, seizing a over half a kilogram of illicit drugs (CSDA) and a loaded firearm.

On February 9, 2023, at 2:20 p.m., members of the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit, with support from Central Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11 near the Bracebridge; in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in Simcoe County.

Police arrested two individuals in the vehicle and seized the following items:

  • Glock 45 caliber handgun (loaded)
  • Separate bag of .45 caliber ammunition
  • 578 grams of cocaine
  • 14 grams of methamphetamine
  • 169 grams of fentanyl
  • $36,000 proceeds
  • Cellular devices
  • Digital scale

As a result, Police have charged the following individuals:

Ali Hamieh age 23, of Windsor, with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- opioid (other than Heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- methamphetamine
  • Unauthorised possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device in a careless manner
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with ammo
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime- over $5000

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Mohamed AL Kuhaly, age 19, of Windsor, with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- opioid (other than Heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, for the Purposes of Trafficking- methamphetamine
  • Unauthorised possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Transport Firearm, weapon, prohibited device in a careless manner
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with ammo
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime- over $5000 (CC)

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
