Traffic Stop Finds Cocaine And Catalytic Converters, Bracebridge Resident Charged

OPP say they have arrested and charged two suspects following a traffic stop in which cocaine and catalytic converters were located, in a vehicle, in the City of Orillia.

On July 14, 2021, at 4 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Wyandotte Street. Investigation led to the arrest of the two occupants of the vehicle, when a quantity of cocaine was located and seized. Further search led to the discovery of seven stolen catalytic converters.

As a result, Matthew Baetsen, age 50, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was held for a bail hearing

In addition, Christie Ebeling, age 37, of Bracebridge, was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on August 17, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
