The Orillia OPP have arrested and charged three people as a result of a traffic stop for excessive speed.
On March 11th, 2024, just before 2 p.m., an officer from the Orillia OPP, while conducting proactive speed enforcement, observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 11 near Line 15 in Oro-Medonte Township. The motor vehicle was stopped and the investigation led police to charge 3 persons with drug related offences.
As a result of the investigation, the following was seized:
· fentanyl 5.8 grams
· cocaine 8.7 grams
· cannabis 30 grams
A 34-year-old female, from Hamilton has been charged with:
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
· Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
· Drive motor vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in April 2024. As a result of these charges, her driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 14 days.
A 16-year-old, from Hamilton has been charged with:
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
A 14-year-old, from Burks Falls has been charged with:
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
Both accused young persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date.
