Three People Charged After Break And Enter In South River

The OPP has arrested and charged three people after responding to a break and enter.

On March 18, 2024, shortly after 5:30 a.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP responded to a break and enter into a building at the historical train station in the Village of South River on Montreal Avenue.

As a result of the investigation, multiple people were arrested and approximately 53 grams of suspected Fentanyl was seized. The estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $21,000.

James Cater, 33-years-old, of South River was charged with:

  • Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid (other than heroin)
  • Engage in prohibited activity on premises

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail Court in Parry Sound on March 18, 2024.

Vincent Beasely, 34-years-old, and Steven Chrest, 36-years-old, both from South River were also charged with:

  • Break, enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)
  • Engage in prohibited activity on premises

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 25, 2024, in Sundridge, Ontario.
