0

Spring time is the best time to ensure all of your vessels safety equipment is accounted for and functioning properly. Marine officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP are now out on patrol and are checking vessels and operators for proper equipment and signs of driver impairment as the long holiday May weekend approaches.

OPP marine officers during the May 9-15, 2022 time period have already checked 60 vessels over their 40 hours of patrol time while on the waterways here in North Simcoe. One operator was cited for having insufficient lifejackets and two others were cited for a offence under the Canada Shipping Act. Sixteen operators were also warned for various violations of the Canada Shipping Act and one operator was administered a screening device test for alcohol consumption and passed.
