Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three motorists with impaired operation following three separate investigations in the Town of Midland.
On October 17, 2026, at approximately 3:07 p.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint and located the suspect vehicle on Balm Beach Road in the Town of Midland. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested the driver.
As a result, Dianne Selley, 64 years of age, of Midland, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on November 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
On October 18, 2026, officers responded to a complaint regarding a pickup truck that had been running unattended in the parking lot of 559 King Street for an extended period. Officers located a male slumped over the steering wheel and observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. An impaired driving investigation was initiated.
As a result, George Michalek, of Tiny Township, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on November 26, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
On October 19, 2026, officers observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light and travelling at a high rate of speed on Hugel Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
As a result, Ethan Sandy, 21 years of age, of Orillia, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to comply with a release order
- Fail to comply with a probation order
- Drive while under suspension
- Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
In addition to the charges, the drivers were subject to Administrative Driver’s License Suspensions, and vehicles were impounded as prescribed under provincial legislation.
