South Muskoka Hospital Announce Transformational Legacy Gift To Advance Healthcare For Generations

Joe Neveu and South Muskoka Hospital Foundation Executive Director Leah Walker

South Muskoka Hospital Foundation is proud to announce a transformational legacy gift from the estate of Joe and Joan Neveu of over $1.5million. This marks one of the most significant philanthropic contributions in the Foundation’s history and will have a lasting impact on patient care, medical innovation, and community health for decades to come.

“This is a momentous time for our hospital and the communities we serve,” said Leah Walker, Executive Director of the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation. “Joe was known for his infectious laugh and big warm hugs. This gift to the community is a hug that will be felt for generations to come.” As a nurse caregiver Joan spent her career with the health of others at the heart of all she did. When Joan passed away in 2017, Joe started thinking about their life together, and their legacy together. Along with taking care of family and close friends, Joe made the decision to leave a gift in his will to the South Muskoka Hospital Foundation, amongst several other local charities, in both he and Joan’s name. The legacy gift will help fund critical care, technology and capital projects at the South Muskoka Hospital.

In recognition of their support, Joe and Joan are proudly recognized on the Foundation’s Donor Wall of Distinction and will be further recognized in the future South Muskoka hospital build; ensuring the impact of their gift is visible, enduring, and celebrated for years to come.
