Parry Sound Resident Faces Several Charges After A Family Dispute

The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a person with several offences after responding to a family dispute

On August 31, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m. officers received a call regarding a family dispute on Miller Street in the Town of Parry Sound. The accused assaulted family members and pulled out an edged weapon when confronted by police. Officers were able to disarm the accused who continued to resist police during the arrest.

Avery Nickerson, 41-years-old from Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Mischief – destroys or damages property – two counts
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Assault a police officer with a weapon – two counts
  • Resist peace officer

The accused was held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and is scheduled to appear on September 11, 2025.
