To wrap up Paramedic Services Week, four of Georgian’s Paramedic students share their personal reflections about an experience of a lifetime in a new documentary-style video.
They, along with two instructors, travelled with Ornge in March to the fly-in Indigenous community of Eabametoong First Nation to administer second doses of the Moderna vaccine.
Three of the students, from Georgian’s Advanced Care Paramedic program and who are already primary care paramedics, administered the vaccines.
The fourth student, in the primary care Paramedic program, covered administrative duties and observed.
At the time, Georgian was the only college in Ontario to participate in Operation Remote Immunity, a vaccination program developed between Nishnawbe Aski Nation and Ornge, the province’s provider of air ambulance and critical care transport services.
Paramedic Services Week is May 23 to 29.
