Uniform patrol officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP were made aware at 10:34 a.m. June 4, 2021 of a possible stolen vehicle heading southbound on Highway 400 from the Parry Sound area. The suspect vehicle was located and with the assistance of OPP Aviation Services the vehicle was observed from the air as it continued southbound Highway 400 approaching the Highway 12 off ramp.

At 10:56 a.m. the vehicle attempted to negotiate the Highway 12 ramp and left the roadway rolling into the ditch with responding officers arresting the passenger at the scene and the driver who had fled the scene on foot was arrested nearby. Both persons were triaged and transported to a Midland area hospital for precautionary measures by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.

The involved vehicle was removed from the scene and the ramp was reopened at 12:06 p.m. with West Parry Sound OPP detachment officers continuing their investigation into the incident with the two arrested persons who remain in police custody. An update will be provided as information becomes available.
