A pair of winter boots went on an unexpected adventure, but an OPP officer’s timely work ensured the story had a warm ending.
On January 28, 2026, the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a report of a missing pair of winter boots at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre. A sports participant discovered their boots gone after recreational activities, with a different pair of shoes left behind.
An OPP officer attended and conducted a brief investigation, quickly identifying the individual responsible. The boots were recovered and returned to their rightful owner. No charges were laid.
Although the item was of low monetary value, the owner was grateful to have their proper footwear back during cold and poor winter weather.
The OPP would like to remind residents that support is available for individuals and families who may be struggling to obtain basic necessities. North Simcoe has several charitable organizations offering food, clothing-including winter gear-and other essential assistance. Anyone in need is encouraged to dial 2‑1‑1 to be connected with local community services, especially during this very cold period.
