Midland Resident Charged With Impaired After Collision

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision at a local intersection in Midland which resulted in impaired charges.

On June 22, 2026 at approximately 10:40 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a pole at Yonge Street and Eighth Street. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to the detachment for further testing. During the arrest and subsequent search, officers located a quantity of suspected illegal drugs.

As a result of the investigation, Cody McFarlane, 31 years of Midland, has been charged with:

• Operation While Impaired

• Dangerous Operation

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on August 6, 2026. All drivers charged with impaired-related offences are subject to an immediate 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound.
