Officers from the Orillia OPP arrested a male early Friday morning in relation to incidents of theft from motor vehicles in the City of Orillia.
On April 8, 2022, at approximately 5:00 a.m. a resident around Westmount Drive contacted police regarding their vehicle being entered and items taken. Officers attended the area and located the suspect a short distance away.
Trevor Griffiths, 50, of the City of Orillia, was charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.
- Possession of Credit Card
The accused was released on an Undertaking to attend Orillia Court on April 26, 2022.
Police wish to remind area residents of the Lock it or Lose it tips:
- Always roll up your vehicle’s windows, lock the doors and pocket the key,
- Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running,
- If you have a garage, use it. Lock the garage door and your vehicle doors,
- Never leave your car keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area,
- Keep your vehicle registration certificate and proof of insurance on you at all times. Don’t leave these documents in your glove compartment,
- Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area,
- Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk,
- Inform your local police department if you see vehicles or vehicle-related activities that look suspicious.
