The Orillia OPP with the fire department and paramedics were dispatched to an address on Coldwater Rd. in the City of Orillia for a fire on the 4th floor of an apartment building. One occupant was believed to be in the residence at the time of the fire. A 67-year-old female would be transported to a local Hospital with serious injuries. The female was pronounced deceased at a local hospital a short time later. The victim’s name will not be released at this time.
The Office of the Fire Marshal has engaged and are conducting the investigation in conjunction with the Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Orillia Fire Department. Twenty-eight units were evacuated and are being supported by North Simcoe Victims Services.
The investigation is in its early stages. An update of the investigation will be released when more information becomes available.
