On April 25, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Collegiate Dr in the City of Orillia. It was reported that a vehicle was “skidding around” in the area before striking a light post and knocking it over. In response of donuts going on in the area police attended and conducted an investigation.  Police learned that there was a total of 4 occupants in the vehicle and pedestrians in close proximity at the time the collision occurred. Fortunately no injuries were reported.

As a result of this investigation a young person, 16-years-old, of Orillia was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Orillia OPP want to remind drivers of all ages that they must remain in control of their motor vehicle at all times and respect the safety of both drivers and pedestrians. Safe streets and highways are a shared responsibility and no stunt is worth damage to your vehicle, injury to any person (including yourself) or worse the loss of life.
