Driver Charged After Collision On Highway 11 in South River

The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid a charge against the driver of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) following a collision that resulted in a lengthy closure of Highway 11.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers from the Almaguin Highlands OPP, along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and local Fire Services, responded to a two‑vehicle collision on Highway 11 in South River, just south of Beachy Road.

Investigators determined that one CMV had jack‑knifed, blocking the southbound lanes. A second CMV subsequently collided with the disabled vehicle.

The southbound lanes of Highway 11 were closed for roughly seven hours while police conducted their investigation and crews worked to clear the highway.

As a result of the investigation, a 33‑year‑old driver from Orangeville has been charged with Careless Driving.
