Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a structure fire in Gravenhurst.
On August 22, 2026, just before 7:00 p.m., emergency services responded to a report of a structure fire at 483 Bethune Drive. The incident happened at a mixed office and garage type of building and its contents were on fire. Police arrived on scene and observed the building fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews were already working to extinguish the fire.
Bethune Drive North was closed between Winewood Avenue and Industrial Parkway for several hours while emergency crews responded. Firefighters from Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes were able to bring the fire under control; however, the building sustained extensive damage. The roadway has since reopened.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation remains ongoing. The fire is not deemed suspicious at this time, and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has been notified and will lead the investigation into the cause of the fire.
