Citizen Detains Suspect Until Police Arrive In Midland

On January 14, 2026, at approximately 12:46 a.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a call for service on Lescaut Road in the Town of Midland after a citizen reported detaining an individual involved in criminal activity to their property.

The citizen observed the suspect entering their truck through a home security camera alert and intervened, restraining the individual until officers arrived. Police arrived within minutes and took custody of the person without further incident. After arresting and identifying the individual it was discovered that they were bound a Probation Order.

As a result of this investigation, Justin Jackson, 37 years old, of Penetanguishene, faces the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Mischief –
  • Trespass at Night
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Oder 4 counts

The accused was released on conditions to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
