The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) Auxiliary celebrates its biggest win to date with a Community 50/50 Draw jackpot of over $694,000. Lea Engles of Orillia was thrilled to receive her cheque on January 26, presented by the RVH Auxiliary.
“Staying positive and putting your energy out there can bring good things,” says Engles, who found out about her incredible win just one week after being laid off from her job. “Supporting such a great cause and little babies just adds to the positivity.”
The 50/50 draw continues to support the RVH Auxiliary’s $5-million pledge to RVH’s Keep Life Wild Campaign and proceeds will be directed to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit’s (NICU) much-needed expansion.
The redevelopment of the NICU is part of RVH’s Capital Expansion Plan. It is a one system, two-site model – expanding the current Barrie Campus and building a new Campus in Innisfil. It is a plan that will definitely enhance healthcare services offered in our growing region including the NICU.
“It’s a win for both the ticket holder and the health centre,” says Pat Ummels, RVH Auxiliary vice president. “Currently in the NICU, there are 12 bassinets in one common room. The expansion will provide individual rooms for newborns to receive lifesaving care that allow for privacy and maneuverability around equipment.”
The next grand prize draw takes place on February 29. Throughout the month, $29,000 will also be given away in two early bird draws.
Tickets can be purchased until 11:59 p.m. on February 28 at rvhauxiliary5050.com.
