The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a male after a report of a male with a weapon near a public school in the Town of Huntsville.
On May 23, 2024, at 12:07 p.m., officers of the Huntsville OPP detachment responded to a report of males fighting on Susan Street in the Town of Huntsville. Initial report was that one of the males had a weapon. Police attended the area and arrested a male party.
Richard Ryan, a 42-year-old of Huntsville was arrested and charged with:
· Possession of a schedule 1 substance
· Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Opioid
· Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
· Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order
· Causing a Disturbance
The local school was placed on a hold and secure until the male was arrested.
The accused has been held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.
