Utterson Resident Charged With Impaired After Collision On Innisfil Beach Road

The South Simcoe Police Service laid the following impaired driving charges, which included one arrest during a RIDE program and three others involving collisions.

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, at approximately 7:10 p.m., police responded to a rear-end collision at the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and 10 Sideroad in the Town of Innisfil. As a result of an investigation, 54-year-old Lynda Alward of Utterson was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.

On Thursday, February 16, 2023, at approximately 3:00 p.m., police responded to a report of citizen-initiated driving complaint on 10 Sideroad in the Town of Innisfil.  A vehicle stop was conducted. As a result of an investigation, 43-year-old Derek Resendes of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at approximately 11:09 p.m., police were conducting a RIDE program on the 10th Sideroad and 6th Line in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of a RIDE stop, 25-year-old Dawson Matwijec of Barrie was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.

On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision where a car went into a farm field in the area of 10th Sideroad and 9th Line in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of an investigation, 25-year-old Adrian Frei of Mount Albert was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol and Dangerous Operation.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a vehicle parked in the middle of a live lane at the intersection of 10th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road in the Town of Innisfil.  As a result of an investigation, 21-year-old Keegan Semsch-Padley of Barrie was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol and Drive Liquor Readily Available.

On Saturday, February 11, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., an officer travelling on the 6th Line in the Town of Innisfil observed a vehicle in the ditch. As a result of an investigation, 34-year-old Maxim Smolin of Innisfil was charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Excess Blood Alcohol.

On Thursday, February 2, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in a parking lot on Holland Street East in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. As a result of an investigation, 64-year-old Renato Fontana of Bradford was charged with Operation While Impaired and Fail to Surrender Licence.

Impaired driving remains the leading criminal cause of death in Canada.  No amount of alcohol or drugs in their system is safe when driving. Thank you to the citizens who call 911 when they know or suspect that a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs. In doing so, you may be saving a life.
