Bancroft OPP responded to a break and enter to a home in the Municipality of Hastings Highlands. A trailer was forcibly entered, and approximately $60,000 worth of construction tools were stolen.
On March 2, 2023, with the assistance of a call to the Bancroft OPP, one of the accused was located and placed under arrest.
On March 3, 2023, Bancroft OPP, Bancroft Crime Unit and CSCU executed a search warrant on Highway 28 South in the Municipality of Highlands East. As a result of this investigation, two individuals were arrested and charged as following.
John Cecil Stone, 37 years old of Bancroft Ontario has been charged with the following:
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
· Break, Enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence
Lorne Michael Stringer, 44 years old from Bancroft Ontario has been charged with:
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
· Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
· Flight from peace officer and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
The accused parties were held pending a Bail Hearing.
Bancroft OPP is warning Bancroft residence, that leaving an enclosed trailers at a job site location can put you at risk for being the victim of a theft. Consider blocking all the access points and please continue to record your tools, add initials/markings and take pictures of your belongings.
