Tim Hortons Is Changing How You Earn Rewards Starting on Feb. 21, 2023

Tim Hortons wants to share upcoming changes to the Tims Rewards Program Terms and Conditions.

Starting on February 21, 2023, at 12:00:01am ET, the Tims Rewards Program will change to a spend-based program, giving you the opportunity to make every dollar count. You will earn 10 points on every $1 you spend, rather than 10 points per purchase under the current program. Also, under the new program, the minimum spend requirement will be reduced from $0.50 to $0.10 and you will have more Rewards options.

To celebrate the launch of the new Tims Rewards Program, registered Tims Rewards members can earn double the points on eligible purchases from February 21 until February 24, 2023.

See below for more on the upcoming changes. You can also visit timhortons.ca/newtimsrewards for full details.

Earning Points

Under the new program, Tims Rewards members will earn 1 point (for registered members) or 1 qualified point (for unregistered members) as applicable (see below for details) per $0.10 spent on eligible purchases. As a result, Tims Rewards members will earn 10 points per dollar spent under the new program, rather than a fixed 10 points per eligible purchase (with a minimum spend of $0.50) under the current program.

Standard rounding will apply, and a minimum spend of $0.10 will be required – excluding applicable taxes, fees, and any excluded items (see below for details) and after any applicable rewards or other discounts are applied.

Points and qualified points earned are subject to a limit of 500,000 points and qualified points (as applicable) that may be saved per person and per account.

Redeeming Points

The redemption of points by a registered Tims Rewards member will continue to be based on your selected Rewards redemption level at which your points will be redeemed. However, the requisite number of points required to redeem a Reward per level will change. We have also added a new redemption level to expand your Rewards options. The redemption levels and requisite points that apply under the revised program terms are available at timhortons.ca/newtimsrewards.

If you do not select a level at which your points will be redeemed, or if you do not want to automatically redeem your points, your account may be set to “Banking your Points” (which will allow you to save your points until you select a redemption level and complete an eligible transaction to redeem your points). As always, a Reward will not have a value (including a retail value) of more than $50 CAD.

Transition Offers

Upon using your Tims Rewards physical card or digital account, on or after the effective date of the program changes, each point or qualified point (as applicable) that you earned up to such period will be automatically multiplied by 6.2 as part of a transition offer.

Starting February 21, 2023 and ending February 24, 2023, registered Tims Rewards members will have the opportunity to earn double the points on eligible purchases. Upon using your digital or linked physical card to complete one or more eligible purchases during this period as a registered Tims Rewards member, each point that you earn will be automatically multiplied by 2. For example, if you earn 50 points in connection with an eligible purchase completed during the offer period, such points will be automatically multiplied in your account by 2 to receive 100 points in total.

Exclusions

Excluded items are goods, services and other items that are excluded from earning points/qualified points and consist of transactions to load, reload and/or activate a Tim Card®, transactions completed via a third-party ordering website and/or delivery aggregator, delivery tip transactions, cambro deposit and/or refund transactions, certain retail products and donations, bottle deposit transactions, and the cost of any government prescribed levies, duties, taxes or other fees (for example, mandatory environmental fees). Visit timhortons.ca/newtimsrewards for more details.

General Terms

Other changes to the Tims Rewards Program Terms and Conditions have been implemented to better align the terms with the key changes detailed above.
