Three Indigenous Community COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics Scheduled

BANAC and Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team in partnership with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is offering three Indigenous Community COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the following locations:

Location: Barrie Native Friendship Centre 10-3 175 Bayfield St., Barrie

When: May 17, 2022, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. By walk-in only

Location: North Simcoe Recreation Centre – Bill Thompson Room, 527 Len Self Blvd. Midland

When: May 18 and June 1, 2022, noon to 6 p.m. Booked appointments and walk-ins are welcome

First Nations, Métis, and Inuit adults 18 years or older and non-Indigenous adults living in the same household are eligible to get a second COVID-19 booster if enough time has passed since their previous booster was received. You may choose to be offered a second booster at a recommended five months (140 days) after your first booster. The minimum interval is three months (84 days). These clinics will also provide first and second doses for individuals five years and older, third and booster doses for individuals 12 and up, and fourth doses for people 60 years and older as well as Indigenous individuals and their non-Indigenous household members aged 18 and over. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available.

Individuals wishing to register for an appointment at the May 18 or June 1 clinics in advance can book anytime online or call (705) 826-0575, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

When attending a clinic, individuals are reminded to bring identification (e.g., health card, driver’s license, passport) a list of any medications they are taking, wear a loose-fitting shirt that allows easy access to the upper arm and bring any assistive devices as needed (e.g., scooter, wheelchair, cane). Please note, all persons attending a Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit community vaccination clinic will be required to wear a mask. Masks will be made available at the entrance to all our clinics.
