The Huntsville Theatre Company (HTC) is excited to present the second show of the 2023/2024 season, The Odd Couple!
The Odd Couple is one of Neil Simon’s most well-crafted and popular plays, which was turned into both a movie and several television series. It stands as one of the best and most hilarious takes on the conflicts that can and will inevitably arise between two polar opposite best friends when they attempt to live together. It features two suddenly single pals — a sloppy sportswriter and a fastidious news writer — who hilariously strain their friendship by turning roommates and unconsciously repeating the same mistakes they made in the marriages they just left.
Director Cydney Jones says while people may be familiar with the story, this particular cast has made these characters their own.
“The cast have turned these characters into real, living and breathing people, with individual stories of their own. I am very proud of the work they have all done and hope that people will come out to Jimmy Joy’s to see the antics of Oscar, Felix, Speed, Roy, Murray, Vinnie, Cecily, and Gwendolyn and share some laughs and good times!”
The cast consists of Jamie Jordan, Mark Soltermann, James Jones, Frank Berg, John A MacDonald, James Currie, Karen Thorn and Rachel Thompson.
Opening night is Thursday, May 23rd 2024 and the show runs until Saturday, May 25th 2024. There are three evening performances at 7:30pm and one matinee at 2pm. Tickets are $25 for general admission or $20 for HTC members. They can be purchased at www.huntsvilletheatre.org.
