The Championships, hosted in Recetto, Italy from August 26 to 31, brought together over 180 athletes from more than 30 countries. Canada was a major presence throughout the week, highlighted by world titles, podium finishes, personal bests, and near personal best performances from athletes across the team.

Jaimee Bull of North Bay, ON, successfully defended her crown to become a three-time consecutive Slalom World Champion, running 1.5@10.25m/41off in the finals. Neilly Ross, who trains in Muskoka, ON during the summer months and resides in Winter Garden, FL, claimed her second career Trick World Title with a score of 11,300 points. Her previous World Title was in 2017. Alberta’s Dorien Llewellyn became the Men’s Overall World Champion, a title earned through consistency across all three events and capped by his bronze-medal performance in Men’s Jump.

Canada’s podium finishes also included Charlie Ross, younger brother of Neilly Ross, who tied for the top spot in the Men’s Slalom Finals with 1@9.75m/43off before a run-off where he secured the silver medal. In Men’s Jump, Ryan Dodd of Olds, AB soared 70.1m/230ft to capture the silver medal, while Llewellyn followed closely behind with 69.9m/229ft for the bronze.

Beyond the medal winners, Paige Rini of Clermont, FL, who represents Ontario, posted a strong all-around showing to finish 4th in the Women’s Overall. Across the roster, Canadian athletes delivered standout performances, with many recording personal bests or performances close to their personal bests.

Team Canada’s consistent strength across every discipline secured a second-place finish in the Team Overall standings, reaffirming the nation’s status as one of the world’s leading countries in water skiing.

With world titles, podium finishes, a team silver, and many personal achievements, the 2025 World Championships in Recetto showcased the talent and determination of Canadian water ski athletes on the sport’s biggest stage.
