Several calls from community resulted in Southern Georgian Bay OPP responding just after 11 a.m. March 30, 2022 to reports of a possible impaired driver being involved in a crash at the intersection of Eighth and Hugel Streets, and also at Eighth and Young Streets, Midland.
The officers located a suspect vehicle on Norene Street, Midland and upon speaking with the driver entered into an impaired driving investigation
As a result of this investigation, Stevie Hook 30 years of Midland has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Dangerous operation
- Fail to remain – Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario
Later in the day just after 11 p.m. March 30, 2022 officers responded to a single vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 12 and Talbot Street, Tay Township. Investigators spoke with the lone occupant of the involved vehicle and entered into an impaired driving investigation.
As a result Courtney Cunningham 32 years of Tay Township has been charged with the following contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Both accused persons were released from custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 14, 2022 and also face a drivers licence suspension of 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
