Southern Georgian Bay OPP Report Four Impaired Drivers

Southern Georgian Bay OPP hope drivers make better choices this weekend after they removed four drivers from North Simcoe roadways after conducting impaired driving investigations this week.

An OPP Sergeant while on his way to another motorists report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 400 noted at 12:30 a.m. April 13, 2023 a traffic infraction involving a sliver Chevrolet pick up truck in the intersection of Highway 12 and Gratrix Road, Tay Township. The Sergeant attempted to stop the vehicle as it was then interfering with other vehicles on the roadway and was safely stopped at Highway 12 and Sandhill Road.

The driver was spoken to by the Sergeant and a impaired driving investigation was commenced at the scene which included the seizure of numerous bottles of liquor.

As a result of this investigation Christopher William Taylor 35 years of Georgian Bay Township has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive with open liquor

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on April 27, 2023. As well, the accused faces a 90 day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 7 day vehicle impound.

Officers on patrol were dispatched at 3 p.m. April 12, 2023 to their Midland satellite office in Second Street, Midland after an individual drove to the office to report an incident and appeared to have been drinking. Attending officers spoke with the individual and entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation Kaitlin McFee 56 years of Penetanguishene has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on April 27, 2023. As well, the accused faces a 90 day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 7 day vehicle impound.

As a result of a driving complaint on Highway 93, Tiny Township from a member of the motoring public, a Sergeant from the OPP Central Region Traffic Unit located the suspect vehicle at approximately 3:58 p.m. April 12, 2023 in the village of Wyebridge, Tiny Township. The driver was spoken to and the officer entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation, Isaac Cuchilla Hernandez 44 years of Scarborough has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on May 16, 2023. As well, the accused faces a 90 day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 7 day vehicle impound.

At 12:30 p.m. April 11, 2023 a community member called the OPP Communication Centre to report an erratic driver on Owen Street, Penetanguishene which had left the roadway and was driving within the nearby cemetery. Attending officers located the suspect vehicle and entered into conversation with the driver who was arrested on foot after trying to flee the scene and physically challenged the officer during the arrest. An investigation was initiated at the scene resulting in seizure of open liquor and a further investigation was completed at the Detachment after confirming the identity of the accused.

Joel Sweet 32 years of Toronto has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on May 4, 2023. As well, the accused faces a 90 day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 45 day vehicle impound.
