South River Resident Charged With Impaired Driving

A proactive traffic stop by the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in impaired driving charges against a South River resident early Sunday morning.

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a vehicle speeding southbound on Highway 11 before it abruptly turned into the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) scales area. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and determined the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Bay OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Trent Webster, 20 years-of-age from South River, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 6, 2025, in North Bay. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
