Orillia local Debbie Hartley is Soldiers’ lucky 50/50 winner for March, taking home a jackpot totalling $20,880!
Sometimes surprise winnings as big as this leave us at a loss for words because they happen when we least expect them to. For Debbie, she was excited to hear the news and said that it was “unbelievable,” but also “incredible” to win the grand prize.
After a frightening experience suffering a pulmonary embolism, Debbie only had positive remarks about the level of care she received at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. “You never want to be in the hospital, but when you are, it’s important to have such great staff around you,” said Debbie.
Supporting the Hospital through the Soldiers’ 50/50 was a simple gesture that made an important impact, the same way the Hospital did for her.
While Debbie said that she has no concrete plans for what she will do with her winnings, she mentioned that a trip to England to meet a few relatives could be in the works for the future. The planning will undoubtedly be the most exciting part!
