Six Impaired Drivers To Tell You About

The Orillia OPP arrested and charged six drivers over the Victoria Day long weekend with impaired driving in the Orillia detachment area.

On May 21, 2021, shortly after 5:30 a.m., officers were notified of a single vehicle collision on Highway 11 just north of Orillia. As officers responded, they observed a male walking away from the collision scene. The male was identified as the driver of the involved vehicle and an impaired driving investigation was undertaken. As a result, Jordan Pritchard, age 40, of Orillia, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on July 27, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

On May 22, 2021, just after 1:30 a.m., an officer was on patrol on Line 7, Oro-Medonte, and stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Again, an impaired driving investigation was started and the driver, Dalen Foster, age 25, of Springwater, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released with a court date of July 13, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Shortly after 8 a.m. the same morning, officers were notified of a female driver, who was believed to be impaired, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in a parking lot on Highway 12, Oro-Medonte. Officers located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. They immediately began an investigation and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further investigation. As a result, Melanie Cantin, age 42, of Tay Township, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was release on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on July 27, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Later that day, at 6:30 p.m., a concerned citizen reported that a woman who was believed to be impaired was driving in Ramara Township. Officers patrolled the area and located the described vehicle. The driver was given a roadside test and was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further investigation. As a result, Samantha Whiteside, age 30, of Ramara, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice and is set to appear on July 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

On May 23, 2021, shortly after 3:00 a.m., while investigating an unrelated incident, officers stopped a vehicle in a driveway in Orillia and spoke with the driver. Offices were given cause to commence an impaired driving investigation and the driver was subsequently arrested. Further investigation ensued and as a result, Tara Cartwright, age 40, of Orillia was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice and is set to appear on August 03, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Just before 1 p.m. the same day, officers were called to a Line 10, Oro-Medonte business as a male who was believed to be impaired was attempting to leave in a vehicle. Responding officers located the vehicle before it left and entered into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Stephen Siegrist, age 66, of Oro-Medonte, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on June 29, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
