Parry Sound Resident Charged For Impaired By Drug A Third Time In Five Weeks

On June 1, 2022 at 10 p.m., Huronia West OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver in the area of Indianola Crescent in Wasaga Beach.

Officers located this vehicle and quickly entered into an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Huronia West OPP Detachment where a Drug Recognition Evaluation was completed.

As a result, the 21 year old female driver, of Parry Sound, was charged with:
· Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
· Driving While Under Suspension

Police discovered that this driver was under three separate drivers license suspensions, and had been arrested for impaired driving by drug two other times in the last five weeks.

As such, the driver was held in custody for a bail hearing on June 2, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood.

The name of the driver was not released to protect the police investigation for court.

  1. Well, what if our justice system were to install penalties for these behaviours? As in prison time? Oh, sorry, that’s unusual and inhumane punishment, isn’t it!
