Orillia OPP Conducts Vehicle Stop – Leads To Drug Charges

The Orillia OPP have arrested and charged a North York male with drug offences in the City of Orillia.

OPP say on January 20, 2021, just before 11:00 p.m., they observed two suspicious vehicles on Matchedash Street North, one of which departed the area quickly. Responding officers followed and caught up to the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The male driver was recognized by the officer and it was determined that he was not abiding by conditions. The driver was subsequently arrested and further investigation led to the seizure of a quantity of cocaine.

As a result, Dwayne Morgan, age 41, of North York, has been charged with:

  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Individual – fail to comply with a continued 7.0.2 order
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
