The Orillia OPP have arrested two males in relation to a traffic stop in the Township of Springwater.
On March 22, 2023, at 2:26 p.m., an OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on Highway 400 Northbound in the Township of Springwater, County of Simcoe for a vehicle that was travelling in excess of 157 km/hr on a posted 100km/hr highway.
The driver and passenger were placed under arrest and upon further investigation a search of the vehicle was conducted and a substantial amount of suspected drugs and trafficking paraphernalia were located and seized;
Cocaine, 320 grams
Canadian currency, cash, value: $940 ($100 bill x1, $50 x8, and $20 x22).

Police have laid 9 charges in connection to this investigation.
Bennet Smith, 23 years of age, of Barrie has been charged with the following offences:
· Adult Poss of a Scheduled I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Adult Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada
· Adult Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court X 2
Benjamin MCARDLE, 23 years of age, of Barrie has been charged with the following offences:
· Adult Poss of a Scheduled I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Adult Failure to comply with undertaking
· Adult Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada
· Adult Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
· Stunt Driving
· Adult Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Both suspects were held for Bail hearing, and the driver of the motor vehicle had his license suspended for 30 days, and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
