On May 26, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multiple-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and five motorcycles.
While traveling eastbound on County Road 503, a pickup truck passed five motorcycles and struck the lead motorcycle, causing a collision involving all vehicles. The OPP, Fire, and EMS attended the scene.
Three motorcycle drivers sustained serious injuries. One individual was immediately transported to a trauma centre in Toronto, and two individuals were airlifted from the local hospital to the trauma centre by ORNGE Air. All three were reported to be in stable condition later that day.
County Road 503 was closed in both directions between Hobbits Lane and Bacon Road in Furnace Falls while Central Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) processed the scene.
