The Almaguin Highlands OPP are currently investigating a death in the Village of South River.
On April 24, 2024, officers from the Almaguin Highlands Detachment responded to a report of a deceased individual located in a residence on Ottawa Avenue in South River.
A post-mortem is being conducted on April 25, 2024, to determine a cause of death and the Almaguin Highlands OPP advise there is no risk to public safety.
The investigation is ongoing by the Almaguin Highlands OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Residents in the area will continue to see an increased police presence.
