OPP Conduct Traffic Enforcement In The Midland Area

Over 35 Vehicle Stops Result in Tickets and Warnings

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were actively enforcing traffic laws on Midland area roads recently. Their efforts resulted in over 35 vehicle stops, with drivers receiving a combination of warnings and Provincial Offences Act notices in the interest of public safety.

Traffic stops and patrols were conducted on a variety of roadways, including Community Safety Zones and intersections as follows.

  • Highway 12
  • Eighth and Victoria Streets
  • Montreal and Eighth Streets
  • William Street
  • Dominion Avenue
  • Old Penetanguishene Road
  • Hugel Avenue
  • Galloway Boulevard
  • Wilson and Marshall Roads
  • Simcoe County Road 93

Officers addressed a range of violations, including:

  • Speeding
  • Failure to stop for stop signs
  • Failure to obey traffic lights
  • Insurance and driver’s licence issues

The OPP continues to focus on reducing serious collisions by targeting the “Big Four” traffic-related offences:

  • Impaired Driving
  • Distracted Driving
  • Speeding
  • Seatbelt Use

Everyone has a role to play in keeping our roads safe. The OPP reminds the public that impaired driving-whether on roads, trails, or waterways-puts lives at risk. If you suspect someone is driving impaired, call 9-1-1 immediately.
