OPP Catch Tay Township Motorcyclist In Fail To Stop Investigation

An officer of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP was on patrol and spotted a suspect motorcycle at a convenience store on William Street, Midland and a further investigation has lead to numerous charges for a Tay Township resident.

The officer noted the motorcycle pull into the store parking lot near 8:15 p.m. May 2, 2022 which was suspected to have involved in two previous fail to stop investigations, one on April 30, 2022 on Highway 93 in Wyebridge and another on Old Fort Road in Tay Township on April 24, 2022.

The officer was able to locate the rider and continued an investigation into the fail to stop investigation. As a result of the investigation, a quantity of methamphetamine, an edged weapon and a motorcycle were seized during the course of the investigation.

Charged in connection to these three incidents is James Ronald Keyes 28 years of Tay Township with the following offences.

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Flight from peace officer (two counts)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle – improper licence c
  • Drive motor vehicle, no permit
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused was released on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on June 30, 2022.
