At approximately 6:10 p.m. May 28, 2022 OPP Marine Unit members along with assistance from OPP General Headquarters Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Central Region Emergency Response Unit (ERT), OPP General Headquarters Aviation Unit were able to safety resolve the situation.
Marine officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are responding to an ongoing incident in the Freddy Channel https://w3w.co/output.sanded.cuisine near Honey Harbour in Georgian Bay Township.
Investigators were advised at 2:48 p.m. May 28, 2022 of a distraught lone male in a small vessel drifting in the Freddy Channel.
At this time investigators are requesting all vessels avoid the Freddy Channel area and not to approach the male and his vessel for public safety until the situation can be investigated.
