A driver is facing an impaired driving charge after entering a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) spot check in Papineau-Cameron Township.
On Sunday, August 2, 2026, members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Chant Plein Lake Road. At approximately 8:00 a.m., a pickup truck entered the spot check, and officers observed signs consistent with alcohol impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Mattawa OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Kenneth Hillman, 55 years of age, of Bracebridge, has been charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on September 1, 2026. In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Impaired driving is a criminal offence that puts everyone at risk. The OPP will continue conducting RIDE programs and targeted traffic enforcement to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roadways.
