Members of the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a robbery on 29 Main Street East in Huntsville.
On July 30th, 2026, at approximately 9:33 a.m., police received a report that a female had been approached by a male who was carrying an object who demanded the keys to the victim’s Honda CRV, and fled the area in the stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Officers from several OPP detachments responded to the incident, assisted by the OPP K9 Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT).
At approximately 10:15 a.m., the stolen vehicle was located travelling southbound on Highway 11 in the construction zone near Canning Road in the Town of Gravenhurst. Officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, safely bringing the vehicle to a stop.
After erratic driving, taking out several pylons, The male (wanted by Toronto Police) driver was taken into custody without incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and further information, will be released as it becomes available.
